She remembered the itchy grasses, the cool dirt, the brown, bare feet each day. She remembered the wooden, rotting fences and the mushy apples on the road. She remembered the lazy cows and the crisp leaves and the empty fields that stretched hundreds of miles with no civilization–no skyscrapers, no schedules, no worries.
